PPKUKM Socializes the Establishment of Merah Putih Urban Village Cooperative

Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, and Small Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency organized a socialization event for Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 9/2025 on the Acceleration of the Establishment of Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperatives which took place at Grha Ali Sadikin Meeting Hall, Jakarta City Hall, on May 6-7, 2025.

"The establishment of this cooperative aligns with the nation's grand vision,"

Attendees included representatives from Jakarta Secretariat's Governance and Economic Bureaus, mayors from five administrative cities and Thousand Islands Regency, PPKUKM sub-agencies, sub-district and urban village heads across Jakarta. Jakarta PPKUKM Agency's Cooperative Division Head, Fajar Sauri, conveyed that the event aims to promote national self-reliance towards the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision by accelerating the establishment of Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperative, as well as support sustainable food self-sufficiency and equitable economic development from the villages.

Other objectives include enhancing the role of cooperatives in optimizing the local resource potential, expanding financial access, creating employment opportunities, and reducing extreme poverty levels in villages and urban villages.

"The establishment of this cooperative aligns with the nation's grand vision in realizing Indonesia Emas 2045, particularly through the second point of Asta Cita, food self-sufficiency, and the sixth point of Asta Cita, village-based development for economic equity," he said.

He further emphasized that the event strengthens coordination among the central government, regional governments, and cooperatives to ensure the effective and integrated establishment and empowerment of cooperatives.

According to him, the acceleration of cooperative establishment at village/urban village level can be achieved by creating new cooperatives, developing the existing ones, and revitalizing the less active cooperatives.

"The goal is to create adaptive, modern cooperatives that can serve as the main drivers of both local and national economies," he asserted.

Fajar hopes this socialization discussion will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding, particularly regarding the implementation of establishing Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperatives.

"Merah Putih Village/Urban Village Cooperatives are expected to serve as a means of empowering the local economy, enhancing financial inclusion, creating job opportunities, shortening supply chains, and reducing extreme poverty levels," he explained.

He added that the regional government, especially Jakarta PPKUKM Agency, play a strategic role in coordinating, facilitating, and supervising the establishment and development of cooperatives in accordance with Inpres No. 9/2025.

"Active coordination needs to be carried out with the Governance Bureau, Economic and Financial Bureau, sub-district heads, village heads, and related institutions within the Jakarta Provincial Government to ensure policy synchronization, accelerate program implementation, and resolve field obstacles," he mentioned.
